Fife Shotokan is directly affiliated to the Highland Karate Association.

Whilst we are an independent Shotokan Karate organisation, we have very close ties to the Academy of Shotokan Karate, lead by Sensei Dave Hazard, 7th Dan. The HKA has been in existence for over 30 years now.

The group consists of four clubs, three in Inverness and Fife Shotokan. The HKA is always keen to welcome new members and has in the past, had links in Aberdeenshire, Moray, Ross-shire and Lochaber.

The Chief Instructor of the HKA is Ronnie Ross, 7th Dan. Assisting Ronnie is Phil Owen, instructor of Charleston Karate Club 6th Dan. In addition, we have Gordon Walker 5th Dan, as well as 2 Yondans (4th Dan); Richard MacKinnon and our very own, Colin Ledger.

Regular courses with Sensei Hazard are held in Inverness and Dunfermline, and students are encouraged to develop their skills by training elsewhere.

The HKA takes the safety of all its members seriously. All our instructors are PVG checked, insured and qualified in First Aid and undertake regular instructor training within the Association.

The HKA has its own Safeguarding Policies which are reviewed regularly.
