ABOUT

Welcome to Fife Shotokan Karate Club's website.

The club was established in September 2000, after Kevin Slaney, 6th Dan, moved from Inverness to work in Edinburgh. Living north of the Bridge, Kevin was keen to maintain his karate connections with his instructors in Inverness. Therefore the Fife branch of Highland Karate was established.

The club has grown over the years, and now boasts a strong Dan grade (black belt) cohort. Our most recent Dan gradings saw Colin Ledger promoted to 4th Dan, Andrew McNeil to 3rd Dan and Grace Day to 3rd Dan.

We also have a cadre of young Shodans who keep us on our toes!

Our focus is primarily on traditional Shotokan Karate, with an emphasis on pragmatic self defence. The club is now also returning to the competitive arena, and a competition squad is being formed.

We are very proud of our strong team of instructors who support Kevin - simply put, the club is a success down to their effort.
